Profile Page
Every user in GeoHazardWatch has a Profile Page — a personal page automatically created when your account is set up. Your profile page is named Profile: Your Name and is accessible at /view/profile-your-name.
Who Can See Profile Pages
Profile pages are visible to any authenticated user — meaning anyone who is logged in, including Occupants. Anonymous (not logged in) users cannot view profile pages.
| Role | Can View | Can Edit |
|---|---|---|
| Admin | Yes | Yes |
| Editor | Yes | No — author-locked |
| Contributor | Yes | No — author-locked |
| Reader | Yes | No — author-locked |
| Occupant | Yes | No — author-locked |
| Anonymous | No | No |
The page author themselves can always edit their own profile page regardless of role.
What Is a Profile Page?
Your profile page is your personal space on the platform. Out of the box it includes sections for:
- About Me — a brief introduction, areas of expertise, or anything you want others to know
- My Contributions — pages you have created or edited
- My Projects — areas of focus or ongoing work
- Contact Information — how others can reach you
- Links and References — useful resources you want to share
You can edit your profile page at any time to keep it current.
Finding Your Profile Page
- Click your name or avatar in the top navigation bar and choose Profile
- Go directly to
/view/profile-your-name(e.g./view/profile-jim-willeke) - Use the search bar and search for your name
Editing Your Profile Page
Your profile page is author-locked — only you and administrators can edit it. Other authenticated users can view it but cannot modify it.
To edit your profile:
- Navigate to your profile page
- Click the Edit button in the page toolbar
- Make your changes
- Click Save
Author Lock
The Author Lock on your profile page means:
- Only the page author (you) and administrators can open the edit form
- Other users — even editors — are blocked from editing it
- The lock can only be set or removed by an administrator
This protects your profile from being modified by others.
Profile Page vs. the About You Page
| Profile Page | About You | |
|---|---|---|
| **Purpose** | Your personal page | System info about your current session |
| **Editable** | Yes — by you and admins | No — auto-generated |
| **Content** | What you choose to share | Session, browser, and user data |
