Terms of Service
For the site administrator: this is a generic template shipped with the software. Review it and change it to fit your own site, your organization and the law that applies to you before you rely on it. It is not legal advice. When you change what people agree to, raise
version:in this page's front matter (Admin → Edit raw) so everyone is asked to accept the new version at their next sign-in. An ordinary edit, such as fixing a typo, does not ask anyone again.
These terms are an agreement between you and the people who run GeoHazardWatch ("we", "us"). By creating an account or signing in, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use an account here.
Your account
- Keep your password and other sign-in methods to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
- Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your email address current so we can reach you.
- Tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
- One account is for one person. Do not share it.
Using the site
- Use the site lawfully and respectfully.
- Do not try to get into accounts, pages or data that are not yours, and do not try to break, overload or get around the site's security.
- Do not post content that you have no right to share, or that is unlawful, harmful or abusive.
- We may remove content, or suspend or close an account, that breaks these terms.
Your content
- What you write and upload stays yours. You let us store it, show it to the people you share it with, and back it up, so the site can work.
- Content you make public can be seen by anyone who can open the site.
- You can delete your own content. Copies may remain in backups for a limited time.
Your information and security
How we handle your information is in the Privacy Policy. In short:
- Each time you sign in, sign out, or fail to sign in, the site records the time, your network (IP) address and your browser's description in its audit log. This is kept for security, to spot and investigate misuse, for 90 days, and then deleted.
- This is needed to run the site safely, so it is not something you can turn off while you have an account.
Add-ons
Some parts of the site are add-ons that you choose to turn on for yourself. An add-on may have its own terms. You are asked to accept them before you turn it on, and again when they change.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. When the change matters, we raise the version and you are asked to accept the new version the next time you sign in. The version and the date it takes effect are shown when you are asked, and on your profile under Your consents.
Ending your account
You can stop using the site at any time. Accepting these terms is a condition of having an account, so withdrawing your acceptance means closing your account: ask the site administrator. When an account is deleted, its record of what you accepted is deleted with it; the audit log keeps the events for its retention period.
We may close an account that breaks these terms, or when we stop running the site.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is. We do our best to keep it running and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors.
